SaltSpring Kitchen Co.
A beloved Salt Spring Island preserves brand with a loyal following. We rebuilt the Shopify store, launched email marketing, and have grown online sales significantly year over year. We initiated a Jilly Box partnership that brought a major campaign success, and the site is now one of the most content-forward Shopify stores in its category. We provide brand and marketing leadership, managing grant and creative budgets annually.

FIELD SALES, DIGITAL MARKETING
Bridge Brewing
A young North Vancouver craft brewery expanding on Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, and the Okanagan. I opened new accounts, ran events and tastings, launched email marketing and online ordering at a time when other agencies weren’t, and grew the brand with a lot of enthusiasm. A favourite quote from co-founder Leigh Stratton: “Don’t tell Chantal about it (a new release) or she’ll sell it all!”

Legend Distilling
A Naramata craft distillery, I represented them in Vancouver and other regions. We opened accounts, ran events, and served the brand so well that co-founder Dawn Lennie asked how she could get her other reps performing the same way. That question was a turning point in how I worked with clients. We brought in Cory Ripley of Exhibit: A Design Studio for strategy and packaging design. Legend has since been acquired.

“Chantal was actually a customer first. She asked what I was doing with wholesale sales, and that one conversation turned into something much bigger.
We spent 14 months working together. She initiated our email marketing from scratch, communicating directly with our wholesale partners and retail customers for the first time. We updated our Shopify site with new SEO practices, launched our blog, rewrote product descriptions, and launched our first Black Friday sale.
The financial results were strong, but what I valued most was the deeper connection we built with our customers. I’d grown a large organic following on Instagram when that was still the most engaging channel—but now I have a more direct way to reach and communicate with our community that I didn’t have before.
She supported us through one of our busiest seasons, including our Jilly Box launch, and when our time together wrapped up we stayed connected as friends. She’s still a customer and a supporter to this day. That says a lot about how she works.”

“Chantal joined us on the day BC shut down for the pandemic. We spent almost a year together, and her impact during an already pivotal time for the brand was significant.
We established a new distributor relationship, completely overhauled our sales program, and rebuilt our financial and reporting systems from the ground up. Sales went from -49% to +30% year over year for an 80% swing.
She helped reshape and then lead our sales team, built us a new Shopify website to support retail sales, and her support during a $500K raise gave me the space to focus on the big picture.
It was a challenging year for everyone. Having her in our corner made all the difference.”

The last job I ever had
Salt Spring Coffee
I joined the Salt Spring Coffee sales team in June 2011. The company was just starting a brand strategy and repositioning toward a higher-quality standard across everything it did. New packaging. A clearer story. A more rigorous approach to the coffee itself, from the farms in Nicaragua and Peru through to the cup at the customer’s counter.
Director of Marketing Aron Bjornson and the team at Exhibit A: Design Group were rebuilding the brand’s look and feel in the world. My job, as the Territory Manager covering Vancouver and, later, Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands, was to take that work into the field and execute it at the store level.
